Student Support

Studying

During your time of study with us, your circumstances professional or personal may change. We have an open door policy and we will work with you to find solutions. The following support structures are in place to enable you to make the most of your academic career.

Personal Development Planning

Employability is linked to personal development planning; at the outset of your programme our staff will meet with you to establish your Personal Development Plan. Throughout your studies you will engage in, and be supported for, regular "self-audits" which enable you to develop reflection, evaluation, planning and implementation skills expected by today’s employers.

Personal Academic Tutors

Each student will have individual academic support and specific advice about study on the Caledonian MBA. Your tutor will also be able to provide information on the various professional and support services offered at the university.

Peer Support

The diversity and experience brought to the cohort by each individual is one of the strengths of the Caledonian MBA. The intensity of the programme will create bonds amongst the cohort that can last a lifetime. Our programme is designed to promote informal peer support and knowledge sharing networks are encouraged.

Learner Support

Learner Support provides a range of services to help you while at university. If you want to find out how to use on-line databases and information skills, improve your IT and study skills, want someone to talk to about stress or other personal issues that are affecting your ability to study, are seeking information or support about childcare, are under financial pressure, think you may be entitled to special needs support, or if you are simply not sure who to ask or if there is support available, contact Learner Support. Services are located in the Saltire Centre and can also be accessed online.

Effective Learning Service

The Effective Learning Service (ELS) is a dedicated learning support facility aimed at improving students’ learning skills. Services provided are wide ranging from report / essay writing and presentation skills to motivation, time management and preparing for examinations. Supplementary English language classes are also available for international students. Find out more about ELS…

Careers Service

The Careers Service at Glasgow Caledonian University aims to provide quality, effective careers advice and information to empower students and graduates to make informed decisions about their careers, learning and continuing professional development.
