The MBA at Glasgow Caledonian University gave me the opportunity to advance existing skills as well as learn new and relevant theme based competencies. The mix of tutor support and the benefit of working with fellow students from all walks of industry was not only inspiring but essential in developing my learning experience. In addition, the balance between theory and practice was right, which enhanced my knowledge of the business world. In short, I would have no hesitation in recommending the MBA at Glasgow Caledonian University to anyone wishing to progress both personally and professionally to maximise their career potential
Completing the MBA at Glasgow Caledonian University has given me the knowledge, confidence and self belief to reach goals I never thought I could achieve. I enjoyed the course and got a lot out of it, in particular it improved my career prospects. I also met a large number of interesting people from whom I learned a great deal and have kept in touch with many of them.
The MBA has helped to quench my thirst to gain an advanced knowledge and understanding of business administration and has provided me with the tools for its application. In today’s dynamic and complex world, there is a need to gain an understanding of the direction businesses are taking. The skills I have gained through the course will help me to apply strategic decisions at work whilst realising the current situation and manoeuvre towards corporate goals.
During my studies I have recognised the high degree of support and significant effort which the MBA staff team have provided. I believe it is this level of personal and organisational commitment to students that constitutes the MBA programme's core competence and which more than anything else guarantees its continued success.
The programme is structured to provide maximum impact and benefits with the minimum of fuss. The flexibility makes it possible for me to undertake the MBA in the evenings. The remote accessibility also allows me to stay in touch with lecturers and other managers when I am not on the campus. In addition, the course harnesses today’s technology with interactive discussions and assignments. Undertaking the MBA has presented me with the opportunity to interact with and learn from a diverse pool of managers from many different backgrounds.
On my return to the world of university studies after some 30 years, the first thing that struck me was the complete change in culture. I’ve been impressed by the constant, repeated offers of any help that might be required from all staff members. We learn the importance of working together (which reflects real life) and our interdependence. This makes a huge difference, especially for those trying to balance the competing demands of work, family, leisure and study!
The MBA has restored my confidence. I was quite apprehensive about undertaking the programme given that I had only been in Scotland for a year and am of a Francophile background. However the mixture of students from a variety of industries and backgrounds became a source of encouragement. I really appreciate the constant support from staff and students particularly during group studies and residential weekends.
The knowledge gained on the MBA relating to leadership, management, change and culture has allowed me to drive change within a large whisky bottling plant which has resulted in reduced costs and wastage.
The support you receive on the MBA is excellent and the standard of lecturing and student support has been first class. I would describe the whole experience as being 'very welcoming' It has been very hard work, testing your organisational skills but the whole course is really enjoyable and good fun!
Thanks to First Engineering sponsorship and commitment to education and employee development, I was able to enroll on the MBA. I successfully completed it and enjoy further career progression. I am now also actively involved in supporting the MBA Alumni Society and participate in life-long learning opportunities. If you get something for nothing it is worthless. You don’t get an MBA, you earn it.
